I did it, guys!! Survived the first week of school! I was so worried because the last two weeks have been crazy busy with work. I usually like to get my son back on his bedtime schedule at least two weeks before school starts, but I slacked – a LOT. But it all worked out, and I feel that our back to school morning routine is the reason why! Today I’m sharing my tips on how we rocked it and how you can too!
Stress-free Ways To Rock Your Back To School Morning Routine
This post is in collab with Hamilton Beach.
I’m not a morning person, but when you have kids, you have no choice. This year my son started the 4th grade. He’s been pretty good with getting ready in the morning.
-
Organize the night before.
The best way to rock your back to school morning routine is to start the night before! I like to prep my son’s clothes for the whole week. Every night I just grab his clothes from the closet organizer and leave them out for him to wear the next day. I also get his lunch/snacks ready and have him double check that everything is in his backpack (homework, agenda, etc.).
-
Get plenty of rest.
It’s important to get plenty of rest if you want to start your morning right. Although we didn’t get my son prepared in advance, came the school night, he was out like a light by 8:30. Mostly because he was so excited about starting the 4th grade. His school days bedtime is 9 pm which is pretty reasonable for a kid his age.

Eat breakfast!
Breakfast is by far my favorite meal of the day. The first couple weeks of school, I like to get up early to cook a hot breakfast for my son. Then we switch to cold breakfast (cereals) sometimes toast or waffles. This week we got to test the Hamilton Beach Breakfast Sandwich Maker. I love that it takes only 5 minutes to make a delicious breakfast sandwich.
This week’s favorite is English muffin, Canadian cheddar, and a few slices of ham. We also love adding already cracked eggs from Egg Creation. HUGE time saver.
And Voila!!
Love this little machine. It doesn’t take much space on the counter, and it’s so easy to clean. Which helps a lot with our morning routine success. The Breakfast Sandwich Maker is retailed at $39.99. You can also get the dual machine for $62.99 -perfect for bigger families.

Thankfully we homeschool now, and our mornings aren’t really stressful. However, these are still great ideas for any number of things that would apply to us, such as an early morning appointment.

Back when our kids were in school, we had two out of three kids that were easy to get ready for school! When we were down to 2, after their older brother graduated, one was easy to get ready, the other, not so much. I wish we had had some great ideas such as these when they were younger!

This looks like a nice addition to my kitchen counter. Although we don’t have any back to school kids in the house anymore, (well, there is just one more and he’s in college so he can make breakfast for himself) this would come in handy when fixing a good breakfast for me and my husband. Thanks for letting me know.

Getting ready the night before definitely keeps the stress down. I try to get ready for each homeschool day the night before.
