How time flies! My sweet and beautiful girl turned 5 at the end of September! Things are very different this year, but I still wanted to make it a special day for her. I love themed parties! To celebrate the big FIVE, I decided to throw her a mermaid birthday party!
Mermaid Birthday Party | Happy 5th Birthday
Since the party only consisted of our family of five and my sister and my nephew, I wanted to keep it low-key (ish). Plus, with everything going on with the Covid, a big gathering was out of the question. Still, I wanted something nice for my sweet girl!
Decorations
A local Montreal shop that creates beautiful party supply designs reached out to me on Instagram for a collab. Jazzy and I picked the themed. Jazzy originally wanted Paw Patrol again, but I swayed her into going with a mermaid theme!
The lovely Jules (owner of Funkissd) designed the complete mermaid set from scratch! It was lovely working with her on this collab. We went over the colors, the font, and food labels (based on the food I planned on having for the party).
In our mermaid package, we received
- 1 Mermaid garland
- 1 Personalized cake topper
- A set of cupcake toppers
- Party straws
- Customized food labels
- 2 4×6 personalized prints (I got 2 dollar store frames for them).
Everything was super cute! I’m so happy with how it all turned out! If you are throwing a birthday party soon, you should totally check out her current collection. I hope she adds the mermaid-themed package on her site! Be sure to follow Jules on Instagram; she recently shared a Halloween themed that is so festive!
For the mermaid garland, I ordered some mermaid balloons on Amazon. I never made a balloon garland before and ended up winging it! Turned out super cute, though!
I also bought a number 5 foil balloon (which sadly flew away while taking pictures outside).
Sweet Table
For the sweet table, I visited my local Bulk Barn store. I picked up rock sugar (pink, purple, blue) and chocolate pieces for melting (for my mermaid popcorn).
I also ordered some mermaid themed macarons from La Petite Macaronette (the same lovely lady that made the Skye macarons last year). I got a dozen mermaid macarons and a dozen of her mixed box (the creme brulee is my fave)
The Cake and cupcakes
For the cake, I ended up ordering one from a local shop as well. Last year I got invited to a pop-up shop by Polly Sleep, and as a little thank you, they sent me a Polly Sleep custom-made treat box created by the lovely May! She’s the owner of chocolata.ca, and she creates beautiful Sweet tables as well as cakes! I initially reached out to her to get some cupcakes and ordered a cake and some of her homemade marshmallows.
I was able to keep it under 300$ (decoration, snacks, cake, sweet table, food). Check out the pictures below and let me know what you think!
Gifts
Her dad bought her a bike with pedals (she’s been using a balance bike since she was about 1). Her great-uncle bought her a rainbow helmet. I got her some (lots of) Play-Doh, a mermaid make-up set for kids, mermaid bath bombs, as well as a Barbie Color Reveal.
If you are throwing a birthday party and are local to these ladies, I highly recommend reaching out to them!
