My toddler is obsessed with putting everything in her mouth. I mean EVERYTHING (yep, that’s dirt)! We got a few pumpkin for the kids this year and thought it would be fun to paint them together. But, toddlers are crazy! What’s a mama to do?! I went on Pinterest for ideas of course! While browsing Pinterest I came across a recipe for homemade paint and just had to try it.
Kids Crafts: Homemade Paint For Babies
I just love Pinterest! It’s my go-to place when I’m bored, or when I need meals and craft inspirations. This homemade paint recipe is so simple to make, and I bet you already have all the ingredients in your home.
To make the paint
1/2 cup of flour
Half a cup of salt
1/2 cup of water
Food coloring (Amazon link)
Direction
Mix the flour, salt, and water together. Then separate the mixture into however many paint colors you wish to make (I used plastic shot glass but feel free to use anything). Then add a tiny bit of food coloring in your separated mixture.
You can make the paint as dark as you wish (by adding more food coloring), or as light as you want (by adding less food coloring). Now, your toddler can paint away, and you don’t have to worry about if they get a some in their mouth.
Fun fact: Once the paint is dry, it sparkles! How cool is that!?

So cool to be able to make homemade paint for babies. I love the idea of being able to make my own paint for babies!

This is a fantastic paint recipe. I would feel so much better if the kids were using this instead of store bought paints.

This is adorable. My mom would do something with soap when I was younger. She’d let me finger paint the table, and then she’d just wipe it clean when I was done. I didn’t realize I was cleaning the table.

How fun is that! I am sure I have all of the ingredients at home, so we can whip up our own paint pretty easily.

What a brilliant idea and a safe way to create creative things with products you know are not toxic for babies. I will bookmark this for friends with little ones.
