Thanks to today’s medical knowledge and technology, it seems like there are tools and treatments for almost every ailment — like cardiac catheterization, which helps diagnose and treat heart disease. But when it comes to cold and flu season, it sometimes feels like everyone is sick all the time. And when it comes to you and your kids, it’s important to keep your family as healthy as possible. So we’ve compiled a few simple tips to help your kids stay healthy this cold and flu season.
Cold and Flu Season: How to Keep Your Kids Healthy
One of the best and easiest ways to keep your kiddos from getting sick is to get into a healthy routine. While eating healthy meals and going to bed at a reasonable hour isn’t always possible with little ones, these small acts can do wonders at keeping immune systems strong. So when it comes to meals, a healthy diet is the way to go. Getting the right nutrients and vitamins is key to staying healthy. Additionally, try to stay away from sugary drinks and stick with plain old water, which can help fight off viruses. And lastly, getting a good night’s sleep is important, especially for kids. Getting enough sleep can give the body the strength it needs to fight off any illnesses.
Disinfecting
While it may seem impossible with kids, keeping your home as clean as possible can help avoid germs from settling and spreading. Disinfecting your home regularly throughout cold and flu season can do wonders at keeping your family from getting sick. Focus especially on shared areas of the home, like bathrooms and the kitchen. And toys or anything else that little kids may put in their mouths should be safely disinfected as well. A quick wipe down at the end of every day can be the difference between staying healthy and getting sick.
And finally, teach your kiddos to wash their hands regularly. This may seem simple and obvious, but washing your hands is one of the best ways to avoid getting sick. This is especially important when they’re at school and sharing surfaces with other kids. Kids should wash their hands before meals and after they’re done playing. And as a parent, hand sanitizer is something you should never be without. Remember that cold symptoms can last for up to 14 days, so splurging on some new soap and hand sanitizer is well worth it.
Getting sick isn’t always avoidable, but you can do your best to keep your kids as healthy as possible. So keep these simple tips in mind, and hopefully, your family will make it through the cold and flu season without getting sick.

Ugg. We all have the flu right now. But I love the reminders you provide. I’ll be busy disinfecting so no one gets a relapse.

Thank You for sharing a nice blog.
Every single doctor we talked to emphasized the importance of washing hands before meals; after using the bathroom; after touching or playing with pets and animals; and after coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose. Little kids (and big kids, too!) need lots of reminders, but all those gentle nudges toward the sink are worth it. Hand washing is the best way to prevent the spread of germs.
