The home has a huge impact on the way we think and feel. Over time it can cause you to feel depressed if it is not to the standard you would like. Maybe you feel so much needs to be done that you do not know where to start. So every morning you leave the house and shut the door and try to forget about it. Every evening you come back and try to block it out. But this is not a good method, and eventually, you are going to have to do something about it. Anyway, here are a few ideas to help get you started.
Healthy Home Hacks
Declutter
Get a box or a bin liner and spend ten minutes in the morning or evening throwing away every and anything that you don’t need, and that is rubbish. Just walk about each room in turn, and they start chucking. Be ruthless. When it comes to decluttering, there is no room for sentimentality. To be honest, decluttering is good for the soul and can help you move on from the past. By throwing out the old aspect of your life, you are making space for the new and improved. So, get in those drawers too and just do it. Just ten minutes a day, and you will see a huge difference, you will feel less oppressed and ready for the next chapter.
Fix things
Is your home filled with lots of broken electrical equipment and light fixtures? It’s about time you threw away all the really broken things and invested in some Appliance Repair. Psychologically being around a whole load of dead appliances can make you feel old and worn. Also, there is nothing worse than a light that doesn’t work, meaning a room has been in the dark for God knows how long. Get things back to life, and you will feel rejuvenated.
Natural light
There are many ways to add more natural light. Open the curtains for one! Move any big objects away from the window to let the light flow in without obstructions. Add mirrors strategically to rebound the light that you have. This little trick will give the illusion of more space, which will have a huge psychological boost. You will feel less constricted and freer. How about adding a skylight if you have the funds. Natural light is a huge mood enhancer and can improve your quality of life.
Plants and flowers
Whether you are a fully-fledged plant lover or not, a few house plants will brighten up your home and enhance your mood. Plants release a chemical called cytokines, which causes your brain to produce more of the happy chemical serotonin. So, they literally make you happier. They are also a natural air detoxifier; they produce more clean oxygen and reduce the CO2 levels in your home. Also, if you live alone, it is nice to have something alive in the hoke with you. Plants and flowers can raise your spirits and they look pretty too.
