Late last night my Facebook news feed went totally CRAZY with dozen of videos tilted, “A Look Back”. Of course I wanted to have a look at what all the fuss was about. Turns out Facebook is celebrating its 10th years anniversary. They went all out and gave all their users a little video looking back on their life since joining the social network site. To be honest, it’s pretty awesome! They did use random photos but the fact that they did this for all their million users is pretty darn cool! If you haven’t already check out your own “A Look Back” video, do so here.
Here’s my look back video since joining in 2007 =)

I wanted to be able to save my video so that I can watch it whenever I wanted to. I was able to find a video on YouTube where a guy tells you the steps on how to save and upload your video on your computer so that you can then upload it on YouTube.
- Be sure you are logged on Facebook and click this link here (it will bring you directly to your “A look Back” video https://www.facebook.com/lookback/
- Press Ctrl+Shift+J It will open the console
- Go to http://textuploader.com/14qr and paste the code into the console then press enter.
- It will give you a video link.
- You can then press Ctrl+S (I use right click and “save link as” to download it)
- Now you have the video saved on your computer you can upload it on YouTube.
Since joining Facebook, I have met a lot of interesting people. What do you think of this video? Did you get a chance to share yours? If you need any more help on how to download the video, leave me a comment and I will do my best to help you.
What a lovely idea and yours is a great video its always lovely to be able to look back and also thank you for the tips on how to save the video 🙂
Thank you so much Kay! =)
Literally everyone I know has been doing these (cluttering up my feed lol), so I think I am going to be a rebel and hold off on making mine 😉
lol don’t be a rebel!! Join US!! hehehe
I just went in and looked at mine but I am not going to share it–I agree with Masshole Mommy–too many of these going around at the moment. I am glad to see that I have managed to keep my personal life out of FB-except my head shots. Yours is adorable-yes, I watched it!
I love seeing everyone’s videos, though I have to say my news feed is so totally cluttered with all of them. I waited until late last night to post mine.
I did in fact look into this last night. Very cool! It was nice to see everyones big moments on facebook. 🙂
Great idea to save the video. It’s fun to see the look back at all my FB friends photos.
Yea i checked this out and its pretty cool, but i dont think i will be making one
Yes, I saw all these videos throughout my feed, but some of my moments I don’t care to look back on LOL Kinda cool, though!
I had no idea facebook was around for 10 years. Holy cow. I think I have only been on it… Maybe.. 5 years. Maybe less.
It is a neat marketing idea by FB. I’m not overly impressed with them and, although the Look Back video was clever, it certainly didn’t capture the most important posts for me.
This is so fun, I’ve been watching these over the last few days, it’s fun to look back and see how far everyone has come! Maybe they don’t capture everything, but they sure do bring back memories.
Awww…Love your video! I haven’t checked out mine yet. (Not sure I really want to. As you know, most of my posts were probably anti-religion and anti-government rants with very few shared pictures lol!) I may check it anyway. Thanks for the post.
I have to admit I’ve not done one of these videos but I have seen them popping up all over my feed and now I know why! What would we all do without Facebook.
I really love the video! It’s really good to see your old pictures, it refreshes your memories and it creates a smile on your face whenever you see them. I’m glad to have Facebook!
It’s fun to look back and see how we have changed with Facebook and use it differently as time has gone by.
I thought the video was pretty cool.. I do wish we could have picked the pictures.. but random was ok also.
I didnt’ post mine but I looked at it and it was really fun. I’m glad they set it up so we could do this.
That’s crazy! I can’t believe that they have been running for 10 years! I feel so old now. lol
I saw mine but didn’t share it…there are entirely too many on my timeline at the moment.
I didn’t realize they took the time out to do that, and you’re right, it’s awesome. Your video is great!!
I have seen them but haven’t tried it. If I do, I am bookmarking this so I can save it if I want. Thanks for the instructions!
I have been on FB for 7 years now. It’s a great way to keep connected with family and friends and even reunite with friends from the past.
Saw a lot of these videos floating on facebook in the last week. 🙂 Kudos to 10 years!
I look at my 10 year Facebook movie yesterday. Mines was pretty cool. I spent some time watching others. Brings back great memories!
Yes! I’ve seen these videos! Such a great idea! Yours is lovey! Kudos to 10 years!
Wow, I checked out my years with Facebook. Too many memories. I did not know Facebook was that old!
haha I am seeing everyone’s facebook movie on the wall since morning.. It looks pretty cool though. what a milestone for fb to complete 10 years and still growing strong!
Uh, talking about a link going viral! Facebook knows what they’re doing, don’t they? They’re weaving a very tight web and we’re all caught up in it. LOL, I think 😉
I loved my video on Facebook. I share a lot about my autistic son and it was great to relive those moments.
I thought the videos were pretty cute – found it funny how mine went from my single girl life to all babies and husband! 🙂
What a great way to clebrate the 10th birthday! Have to go and check out mine 😀
Thank you so much for giving us the steps to save it. I love mine, yours, everyones. I also think the music they put with the montage gives me goosebumps every time. I must have watched 300, didnt get much work done, but I fell in love with people over and over and with Facebook too for doing this.
I think that is so cool that they did this. Anyone else get teary-eyed while watching theirs?
I was wondering why I kept seeing these in my news feeds. Wow, I have not done one yet not sure if I will but they are fun to watch.
These videos are all over my timeline. I watched a few and thought they were so cool.
I saw mine, but it picked images that I didn’t think were video or share worthy.
After the first few, I didn’t check anymore. I don’t post much on my personal page and did not like what it picked and wish I could have chosen some. Nice concept for them.
How fun!!! These are so heart warming.
They are =) Thank you for stopping by Robin!
your right, the feed was crazy yesterday, but i loved seeing everyone’s!
My just blew up one minute! I enjoyed watching everyone’s that did show on my wall!
I watched mine today and it brought tears to my eyes, I thought it was terrific! Just wish my children were able to be part of it. They both refuse to be on Fb which is the reason why you don’t see them and I don’t refer to them by name!! Loved watching yours Marielle!
Awesome!! would love to try this. thank you for reminding me!! congrats to facebook 10 Years!!
Ive been seeing these videos so much lately. They are pretty cool
It thought it was pretty cool too, until I did mine. They picked some of my weirdest pictures to use. Lol. Maybe a bit too random, but the sentiment is great
I love this!!! This is so cool! Thank you for teaching me how to upload this to my youtube channel to save it forever. I love learning new things:) It is up on my you tube!! You are awesome!!
Thanks for sharing the instructions to download and save the video. I think this was a neat marketing idea for facebook. I have not done mine.
Great marketing by Facebook … suddenly everybody loves them again. The first thing I did was go into a major rant about how it is not my life story but my Facebook page!
Next I look at other peoples and found that while some were lovely, others were absolute rubbish considering what excellent content was on their pages.
Then I have to admit that I conceded and shared mine whilst still maintaining my stance of rantiness!
Yours is a lovely one Marielle xxx
Time goes by so fast and there’s a lot of changes happen..happy 10th years!
I think the videos are awesome too! I love mine! I have seen so many posted on my newsfeed and I enjoy watching them.
i joined facebook back on new years eve (12/31) 2004 – so i’m one of the first ones, sheesh
I did this video and thought mind was pretty awesome! I learned that I joined FB before most of my friends… which I didn’t think was true, but FB said it is!
I love your movie by the way. This is really a cool concept. Kuddos to FB for doing this
Oh I love it! I did mine too yesterday! So special that fb does this!
That is such a cute video! I haven’t done it yet. I’ll have to try it. I think I joined FB pretty late compared to others. It was like 2009 before I got on.
Happy birthday Facebook, I am glad you were born
I watched mine too. Even though Facebook annoys me often I thought this was really cool of them. To give these flashback video compilations to all Facebook users was nice and probably not a super easy task. I wonder how long they worked on this. I love you video by the way!
I really enjoyed looking back through my own video. It’s a great way to reflect and enjoy some nostalgic moments.
Thanks for sharing the steps on how to save out facebook look back video. I enjoyed viewing mine. I’m amazed at how much things have changed since I first joined.
Thanks for sharing the instructions for saving our FB videos they gave us in celebration of 10 years.
Your video is too precious! Such a special time in your life to share! I loved it!
I managed to be totally out of the loop last week when this came out, so missed all the clutter in the news feed. Was happy to see that I’ve managed my privacy pretty well on FB, which means the video was just a gentle reminder … Thanks, Marielle, for sharing that it even existed!
