There’s a lot of debate regarding premature Christmas decorating. I’m not trying to bash anyone that decorates early, but if you do it before November 1st, I’m judging you! Since we are now on the 3rd week of November, I think it’s completely acceptable to start on the Christmas home decorations. For today’s post, I want to know; how soon is too soon? Stay until the end and enjoy a fun little video of my family putting Christmas lights up.
Christmas Home Decorations – How Soon Is Too Soon?
Want to know something funny? Last year, we didn’t put up the Christmas tree until the second week of December. The Chrismas before that, we had the tree up on November 12th. That year was the earliest we’ve ever had it up. I don’t think there’s a “wrong” or “right” when it comes to Christmas home decorations. Some people believe that decorating anytime before December 1st is “wrong.” I think any time after Veteran’s day is acceptable.
As for Me and My House
I think any time after Veteran’s day is acceptable. We plan on decorating in the next few days. Demo and his uncle prefer to put the outside lights up early. That way they can avoid having to do it when there’s snow. That’s a very smart idea. We plan on decorating in the next few days.
I feel so blessed and thankful that I get to spend another Christmas with my family in our beautiful home. I think that when it comes right down to it, decorating your home for Christmas is a personal choice. Yes, even if you do leave your decorations out in the middle of July! Just don’t be surprised by all the side eyes you’re going to get if you do so.
When it comes to Christmas home decorations, how soon is too soon? I’d love to hear from you!

As someone who absolutely LOVES Thanksgiving, I refuse to put up any Christmas decorations until the turkey has been cooked and enjoyed. We are cutting down our Christmas tree next Saturday–can’t wait!

I personally wait until after Thanksgiving to put up Christmas decorations. I have seen a few places already decorated for Christmas and it just feels weird to me. Of course, it is probably because it hasn’t been super cold yet here in Texas. It will be in the 70s today.

Since I got here in the U.S. six years ago, I always decorate the weekend before Thanksgiving. But this year, I couldn’t wait any longer and decorated two weeks before Thanksgiving. So yes, it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas over here. 🙂

I feel like any time after November 1st is technically acceptable, but it’s still too early for me. I start thinking about Christmas in mid-November and try and start my shopping around then before the stores get too busy! But we always have a real tree so we wait to decorate until December so it doesn’t get brown before Christmas.

Here in Norway it is traditional to put your tree up the Eve of Christmas Eve. I don’t know why they wait so long. I think anytime after Thanksgiving is acceptable or even right before Thanksgiving.

Family traditions are created when we step away from the norm and do what pleases us/our family. I know folks who keep them up till spring. If it makes you happy, go for it! 🙂

So cute! It looks like you had a wonderful time setting up decorations with family! To soon for me would probably be right after Halloween. At least give it a week before Thanksgiving and I think you’re in the clear 🙂

Your kids are adorable! I think if the xmas decor goes up right after halloween, it’s too soon, but anytime after veterans day is cool with me!
