Having a beautiful smile boosts your self-esteem, and stops you hiding behind someone else when it is time for photos. There are several things you can do to keep your smile looking good, and most of them should be part of your routine.
Have a Beautiful Smile, Always
Have A Brushing and Flossing Routine
It is recommended that you brush and floss your teeth twice a day, in the morning and before you go to bed. If you follow the same routine each time you do them you will not forget something. Your flossing should be first and then the brushing of your teeth. Don’t forget to give your mouth a good swill afterward to get rid of any bits that are floating around.
Visit Your Dentist Regularly
Most people visit their dentist twice a year, but many dentists advocate a quarterly visit instead. They suggest that a lot can go wrong in six months and that problems can be picked up much quicker with three monthly visits.
This could especially be the case if you have a treatment plan to follow or if your dentist is considering a brace perhaps. You may think this would ruin your smile, but the opposite can be true as is explained in this Braces Haven Invisalign clear aligners guide. Looking after your teeth isn’t just good for your smile either – it can improve your whole health.
Stay Clear Of Sugars
Sugars are bad for your teeth; there is no doubt about that. Steer clear of foods with them in as much as you can and avoid sugary drinks as well. They can be even more damaging to your teeth. More nutritious foods are better for your health generally, but especially for your teeth.
Avoid Foods That Stain Teeth
There are some foods and drink that will stain your teeth unless you can have a drink of water immediately after them. Tea, berries, red wine, soy sauce, tomato sauce, coffee, and soda are just a few of the things that can stain your teeth.
Eat Foods That Are Good For Teeth
Just as there are foods that are bad for your teeth, there are some that are good for them as well. Crunchy fruit and vegetables will help to clean then naturally. Strawberries and oranges will help to polish them. Eating things like carrots and cauliflower raw will also help to protect them.
Practice That Smile
If you are not happy with the way you smile you could try to change it. Practice in front of a mirror and see if you can improve it and if you can keep trying to do that every day. After a period of time, it will become the way you smile naturally and you will not have to think about it at all.
For most people though, the reason they do not like to smile is that they are concerned about the way their teeth look. Teeth do start to yellow with age, but there are things your dentist to can do to improve their color and usually, they can put right any other issues you have. Don’t just stop smiling, have a chat with your dentist to see what can be done.
