Hi, Loves and happy Sunday! Today we had a fabulous day as a family. We got to witness my nephew‘s baptism! I’ve never been to a baby baptism before, so I thought I’d share the experience with you guys. Keep in mind, the last time I was in a Catholic church was about 6 or 7 years ago for a marriage.
Our Very First Baptism!
The baptism started with a song (that they played in a very, very…very old radio/speaker). Once the priest was done talking, we heard another song, and they pass the basket around to collect money. I forget what that’s called.
After that was all done, all the parents, godparents and the children were called to go up on the stage (is that what it’s called?). There were about five families on the stage, and the children were all little except for a toddler girl. They all got baptized, and that was it!
The whole thing took about an hour. Jazzy has never been inside a church before, so I was surprised she didn’t try to run up the stage. Afterward, we all drove to a buffet and stuffed our faces.
I don’t know why but I was expecting something a bit more, but at the same time, it’s not like I have a lot of experiences with baptism to compare.
Have you been to a baptism before? What did you think of it?

I have two children. One baptized & the other isn’t (long story) Now I have a grandson. I hope his parents get him baptized. Like taking them for vaccinations for their protection so is the security of being baptized. The actual event may not be eventful for some but that is not the point of baptism 🙂

I guess at the end of the day it’s a personal choice. I wanted my kids to decide when they are older so we didn’t baptize them as babies. Sometimes I question if this was the right thing to do. I’m glad I was able to witness my nephew’s baptism.

It’s been many years since I’ve visited one. I used to go to church every Sundays and sometimes in the weekdays for prayer.
