I’ve been blogging for a little over three years now. I wish I could say that I’m making thousands a month from blogging. The sad reality is, I’m not! Not yet. Since the Google Adsense program is no longer an option for my blog (long story), I needed to look into a new way to monetize my blog. In comes affiliate programs. Today I’m sharing some tips for choosing the right one for you.
Affiliate Programs: Tips For Choosing The Right One For You

Join Programs You Are Comfortable Promoting On Your Site
There are lots of programs you can choose. The key is to find programs that you love and can promote on your site without it coming off as “forced.” Share A Sale is a great place to find some amazing programs.
Be Selective Of The Programs You Join
Remember my confession about suffering from shiny object syndrome? It might look like a splendid idea to join 101 merchants, but trust me. It’s not! You’ll end up being overwhelmed and unable to focus. Which means, no money! We don’t want that!
Stop Copying Everyone Else
I’m guilty of this one. Not every program you see is right for you. I sometimes get emails about joining programs, and the company doesn’t even ship to Canada. Just because a blogger is promoting a merchant, doesn’t mean that you should too.
There you have it folks, my tips for choosing the right affiliate programs for you. I hope you found them useful. Are you using affiliate programs on your site or blog? What other tips would you give to someone looking to start?
If you would like to know which programs that I’ve been using in the last months to generate income, let me know in the comments below. Subscribe to get updated when a post goes live.
You know I do not participate in any affiliate programs because I do not have a clue so I do appreciate your expert advise on this =) maybe now I will jump to the opportunity to do affiliate marketing.

This is great information. Not all affiliate programs are created equal, and not all of them will work well for you and your audience.

So helpful! I wish I had more time to sit and read about affiliates more, and see what would be a good fit. I just feel like I already have too much on my plate right now. I’ll for sure have to come back to this!
I love working with affiliates. I just signed up for about 10 new companies and am excited about making money with them. I do really good earning money and it’s fun because it’s pretty passive. Tips: Promote each affiliate in a way that seems authentic and not salesy. It should fit naturally into the content where your readers don’t even realize the link their buying through is affiliated.
This is helpful advice. It’s hard to know exactly where to start when you’re thinking of trying some affiliate programs.
Affliate programs are such a great way to bring in a little more income. I am so thankful for every cent I get through mine.

I think it will help out many of us bloggers.
I don’t do them unless it’s a specific requirement to a campaign. I have one coming up soon but I can’t remember with who, lolol. You do have good tips here!
I have not done affiliate marketing as of yet. There are sooo many choices out there.

These are some great tips!!! I suck when it comes to affiliates! I see some bloggers making big bucks…. Me? I’m lucky if I make $50 during a holiday season lol…
I think there are lot of affiliate programs available these days & it is so important to choose the right ones that will work for you. These are some great tips & I agree trying to copy everyone else is never going to work for you.
Personally I didn’t like the way classic affiliate programs want to turn me into a salesperson, so I opted for a program that’s pay per click on the links, rather than a commission on sales. I feel much more comfortable with it, and it ends up bringing in a lot more money (although still too little) because people click a lot more than they buy!

I really only do AMAZON affiliates. That’s the only one I actually see return on because it’s such a HUGE and POPULAR website.
I have been trying to decide if affiliates is right for me. This is helpful
I joined a few programs in the past, but I never earned from them. These tips are very helpful, maybe I should look at it again.
I get so many pitches from companies. It always so hard to tell which ones are the best.
Thanks so much for sharing this. Affiliates are a great way to earn some extra money, but you have to pick the one that’s right for you and for your blog.

I think this is all very helpful. I often find everyone going after the same thing other bloggers are. You have to be yourself and find out what’s best for you and what works for you.
These are great ideas for choosing affiliates. BlueHost has been hitting me up forever to be an affiliate. I think it’s ridiculous as I’ve never ever used them.

I agree with all of your tips and the fact that you shouldn’t do something just because another blogger is. It’s important to find things that fit your blogs niche as well versus selling something your audience wouldn’t be interested in.
I love this post thank you so much. I needed to hear all of this.

Share a Sale is one of my favorites since they make it so easy. I love their programs too and usually the merchants have nice rates.
I have learned that what is for me, is for me. Affiliate programs aren’t really my thing, I know they work for a lot of folks and that is amazing.
It would have to be something so me before I woud even consider.

I used to join affiliate programs and eventually decided to stop. Quite got confusing at one point. Totally enjoyed reading this post. Will pass it along to friends who might also find it informative. xx
