Last week was “happy mail week.” For those of you that might have already forgotten, it was also St-Valentine’s Day! I received my Scentsy orders and a package from Beau-coup! I was happy that I was selected to do a review on their “Love is Sweet” Burlap bags.
I ask my hubby if he knew what a burlap bag was and he replied, “The thing you put potatoes in?” Let’s be honest; that is what comes to mind when you think “burlap bag.” When I was growing up, I remember my aunt would use one of those “potato” bags as a mat. She would lay down on it for hours without eating or drinking. Fasting. I always thought that was the strangest thing ever. I will have to ask some of my Haitian friends if their parents ever did anything like that.
According to Wikipedia, burlap, also known as “hessian cloth” is made from jute leaves. This came as a shock to me because I love jute leaves (See “Haitian Lalo“).
The “Love is Sweet” burlap bags comes in a set of 4. The bags came wrapped up in pretty baby blue tissue paper. These cute little bags would make perfect favors for engagement parties and weddings. You can fill them up with little souvenirs to give out to your guests.
