A few weeks ago I took my son out to go see “The Lego Movie.” We (somehow) ended up at Target. Since I’m a sucker, I let him talk me into buying him TWO Plush Toys. I’m usually really good at saying no to him…OK! Not really. I usually just avoid taking him shopping for fear of being talked into buying anything. He’s a sweet talker (I blame his father). He’s going through the “I love everything Super Mario Brothers” phase. It will pass…eventually. In the meantime, I have to listen to him have lengthy conversations with his “brothers” and getting pushed off my side of the bed because I’m “squishing them” (last I checked it was MY bed). Got to love a child’s imagination!

I just go along with him! Notice how I’m being pushed out of the picture for the bros?
I feel like I’m treading in uncharted waters. When he was growing up, he was not into plush toys. It’s perfectly “normal” right?! ย Do you have children that sleep with their favorite plush toys? Is it a phase? I’m curious because I’ve never been into sleeping with toys. I watched Child’s Play when I was about seven years old, scarred for LIFE!
I love to hear from you!

It is comforting for them and for the most part a phase. I have four kids aged 5-20 and two loved having a stuffed toy to sleep with. Both out grew the need sooner than I had thought they would

Both my boys still sleep with plush toys and they are 9 and 5. Perfectly normal.

If I was being honest, I slept with dolls and toys for a good majority of my childhood! They were great companions! ๐

We also went to see the Lego Movie a few weeks back. We ended up shopping as well! It was a really fun day!

Those are so cute! I know of tons of kids that went through the Super Mario phase and some that never grew out of it. My youngest has been obsessing over her dolls and stuffed toys lately which I find adorable. I love it when the kids snuggle with their toys! -Amberlee

Oh it will pass eventually. My six year old still sleeps with a stuffed animal. My nine year old doesn’t sleep with them anymore, but they are all lined up still next to his bed.

Kids that sleep with toys? How about adults that do, lol. I just bought myself a stuffed turtle at Ripley’s Aquarium that I plan on snuggling. ๐

It ‘may’ pass, but don’t be worried if it doesn’t. Many of us still snuggle with our pillows each night!

LOL, so funny blaming your Hubs for your son being a sweet talker. Why can men… and boys do that to us.
The Mario Brothers have been around for quite awhile now. Those little toys he got are so cute.

My daughter slept with a little dog for a good while. She still sometimes asks to sleep with one of her babies or a barbie, whichever toy she played with the most that day. I think it’s completely normal.

My three year old son loves to sleep with his brothers big plush Jake The Pirate. My 16 month old daughter loves to sleep with her Lalaloopsy “Baby”. I am headed to Target next week to get my daughter the new big plush Mooshka doll.

My older son loves to sleep with his stuffed animals. My younger guy, not so much. They both love Mario though, so this was a sweet post I could relate to ๐

I had a bee I would take every where and sleep with as a child – he still has a very special place in my heart though looks a bit worse for wear lol x

Aw those are the cutest! My daughter would love those, . My kids each still have a special plush toy they sleep with.

I slept with my Bugs Bunny rabbit for many years, LOL. My sons were not too into their stuffed animals after a certain age but I really can’t remember what that age was. I think it is perfectly normal to be attached to something comforting.

My 6-yr. old won a stuffed dog 3 years ago at an amusement park. He sleeps with that dog from time to time, still. He took it to school for Show & Tell, and his friends loved it, lol. It’s just one of those cheap-o raggedy looking things too, nothing really cute (oh my gosh, I almost feel guilty saying that because he loves it so much) like your son’s Mario & Luigi guys. ๐

I sometimes don’t think there is room in my kids’ beds because off all the toys. It is CRAZY!

It is completely normal for our children to find a friend in a stuffed animal or plush character! Don’t worry… He is using his imagination! Relish in it! Its so cute that he pushes you out of bed to give his “brothers” room to sleep! You have a sweet boy there!
