Going on 2 months of making baby food for my daughter. She’s already 7 months! I know right? It’s going by so fast. In the last two months, I’ve made some pretty tasty recipes for her. The other day it dawned on me, she never had apples! What? Today I want to share this really simple applesauce recipe I made for her.
Applesauce Recipe For Baby
I’ve never made applesauce before! It’s not something that my son likes so I rarely every buy it either. But I wanted to try making for my daughter so that she can have a variety of meals for breakfast. I’m sure she would be happy with her usual strawberry and bananas! I found this really simple recipe and edited it a bit for my daughter.
For this recipe, you will need:
2-3 apples (peel, remove the seeds and cut into sections)
1 sticks of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of lemon zest
Water for boiling.
Directions:
In a pot, add the ingredients and cook apples until they are completely cooked through. Once the apples are cooked, remove from heat. Let it cool down. Remove the cinnamon stick. Blend the apples with some of the water that they were cooked in.
Once the apples are cooked, remove from heat and let it cool down
Remove the cinnamon stick.
Blend the apples with some of the water that they were cooked in until smooth. Et Voila! You have applesauce for your baby!
I tasted the applesauce and it was sweet but not too sweet. I didn’t add any sugar at all since this recipe is for my daughter.
Hope you found this recipe useful and will add it to your list of recipes to try when you introduce solid to your baby. No baby? Then feel free to check out the original recipe here and make some applesauce for yourself!

I love the idea of making your own baby food. My girls are older now, but I wish I would have made more baby food of my own for them when they were younger. This sounds like a wonderful applesauce recipe too.

I use to make apple sauce my daughter all the time when she was itty bitty. Now she begs for store bought because of the “cool” packaging -_-

Awww…This recipe looks wonderful! I wish you lived closer, so I could give you some of our organic apples in fall! We have 170+ apple trees and while the trees are getting old and some don’t look very pretty anymore, they still are tasty. I’m saving this recipe!

Nothing more satisfying then making baby food from scratch. I made baby food for my girls when they were babies and they loved it! Butternut squash and sweet potato was their fave!

Can you believe that I’ve never actually had apple sauce made myself? I usually always buy it already made. I’m allergic to raw apples so that’s always been my excuse my my daughter LOVES it.
