While you hope most days are full of sunshine and rainbows (even during the cold, cold winters) life doesn’t always play ball like that. There will be some days when everything feels like it’s going wrong, and most of the time, everything will go wrong.
The Worst Day Ever, And What To Do When It Happens
There’s little – if anything – you can do to predict when your worst day will come, but when it arrives, it’s not the end of the world, so keep smiling. Here are some of the problems you might encounter but more importantly, how to prevent them from ruining your day, at least a little bit.
Every Red Light, And Then Some
Picture the scene: you’re running late. The kids have decided on their sixth costume change of the morning (and you’re wondering where the Peppa Pig outfit even came from). Your keys have taken a stroll from the hook to under the sofa, strangely, during the night. It’s a bad morning, to say the least.
And then, it gets worse. You hit every red light, your kids are late to school, you are late to work, and it’s tempting to put your foot on the gas. Please don’t.
Accidents can happen at any time, so take it easy. You would rather get there ten minutes late than not at all, so once you realise there’s no chance of making it on time, take it on the chin and hopefully, tomorrow will be better.
Domestic Doom and Gloom
At least when you get home, you can cozy up and relax, except you can’t. Your key breaks in the lock so you need to climb over the garden fence and wiggle through the open window. Inside, the dogs have made a mess, and you forgot to take the laundry out of the machine.
Relax, it will all be okay. Take every issue one step at a time. Start by getting in touch with a locksmith to fix the front door and go from there.
Keeping the house in top condition often feels like an endless and thankless task and issues within don’t help. However, few problems cannot be solved, so remain calm and remember it’s just one day.
Tears, Tantrums, and Tell-Tales
Surely nothing else can go wrong, though? Of course it can! The kids get home from school in tears. Why the tears? Who knows.
It could be anything from arguments with friends to a telling off by the teacher to something more serious. Whatever it is, they need support from both you and your partner to reassure them that everything is alright.
Most kids enjoy school (despite what they might say otherwise), and you want your child to be happy and feel safe when they’re away from you. If they’re upset, it can make an already terrible day even worse, but the sight of them smiling should make everything better.
Worst. Day. Ever.
Face it; you’re going to have your worst day ever at some point. There’s nothing you can do about. When it arrives (and you’ll know when it does), it’s important to stay calm and understand how you can make the most out of whatever happens so you can step into tomorrow feeling like you’re ready for anything.
